Privacy policy

mzny is an expense and budget tracking service. This policy explains the data the service handles when you use the website, API, or a ChatGPT Custom GPT action connected to mzny.

Data we collect

Google sign-in provides your verified email address, Google account identifier, display name, and profile image. We store the ledgers, members, invitations, categories, transactions, funding records, schedules, and activity events you create. When ChatGPT calls an action, relevant action parameters and the resulting audit event are processed by mzny.

How we use data

We use this data only to authenticate you, provide collaborative budget features, answer authorized API requests, run funding schedules, maintain security, and show an audit trail. We do not sell personal data or use financial records for advertising.

ChatGPT actions

When you invoke a Custom GPT action, ChatGPT may send relevant parts of your request to this service. mzny returns structured financial data to ChatGPT so it can answer you. Your use of ChatGPT is also governed by OpenAI’s terms and privacy practices.

Sharing and access

Ledger data is visible to members of that ledger according to their role. We share data with infrastructure providers only as necessary to operate the service, or when legally required. OAuth tokens are stored as one-way hashes; Google access tokens are used during sign-in and are not retained by mzny.

Retention and deletion

We retain active account and ledger data while the service is in use. Archived categories, ledgers, and soft-deleted transactions may remain for financial integrity and auditability. Contact the operator to request account export or deletion; shared ledger records may be retained in de-identified or audit form where other members rely on them.

Security

Production traffic is encrypted with TLS. Access is scoped to authenticated users and ledger membership. No system is perfectly secure, so do not store card numbers, bank credentials, or other secrets in transaction descriptions.
